Tony Gonzalez to Join CBS Sports as NFL Analyst

The transition from NFL superstar to former player is now coming to a close for former Atlanta Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez.

The future Hall of Famer has reportedly agreed to join CBS Sports as an NFL analyst, appearing on the NFL Today (the network’s flagship NFL show) as well as other shows.

CBS currently has the broadcast rights to the NFL’s AFC games, which means that Gonzalez will be able to spend time breaking down games for his former Chiefs team, where he spent 12 seasons before being traded to the Falcons in 2009.

There are rumors that long time analysts Dan Marino and Shannon Sharpe will be leaving the NFL Today show to make room for Gonzalez and possibly another new host.

Gonzalez is seemingly made for TV, having not only striking physical attributes, but the ability to communicate intelligently and clearly, as well as an affable and warm personality. His addition to the show could push CBS over the usually higher-rated FOX NFL Sunday, who had 28% more viewers in 2013 than CBS.
